France has a new luxury perfume brand – Jul et Mad Paris.

The brainchild of French IT specialist and biologist Julien Blanchard and Madalina Stoica, a Rumanian graduate of New York's Fashion Institute of Technology, the house has taken two years to evolve from conception to production.

Based on traditional haute French perfumerie, the juices are perfume strength and cost €230 for 50ml and a 'Nomad' 10ml handbag spray in a sleek metal case. The Nomad and the fragrance, in a half-frosted bottle with zamac cap produced by Verrerie Flaconnage Agussol, are housed together in a grey leather case with a white velvet interior. The lovers-knot style logo for the brand was designed by Paris design house QuartoPiano.

"Our collection, composed of true perfume, is the result of a tight collaboration with very talented French artists and perfumers," said Stoica. "No compromise was made in the choice of components, from the packaging to the formulae. We also address our consumer directly, sharing beautiful and precious moments in our lives. Jul et Mad is simply about celebrating people and life."

The three launch fragrances - Stilettos on Lex (chypre fruity floral), Terrasse à St Germain (woody floral musky) and Amour de Palazzo (oriental woody leather) – are intended to represent the first three chapters in the couple's whirlwind romance and were all composed by Dorothee Piot of Robertet, though the brand will also collaborate with other noses in the future.

The perfumes will be sold via the company's own website, www.juletmad.com, and a select luxury perfumeries, including Jovoy  and Sens Unique in Paris and Aedes de Venustas in New York. The brand also has plans to expand shortly into the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Romania, Russia, and the Middle East.
