Poco Beauty is expanding across the UK via a partnership with luxury department store Selfridges, but the three-year-old beauty brand’s success is down to more than just the luck of the Irish.

Founded by model-turned-influencer Pippa O’Connor, known to her 440,000-plus followers on social media as @Pipsy_Pie,  the Irish hybrid skin care and make-up brand has gone from strength-to-strength, with triple-digit growth year-on-year since its 2023 launch.

As Poco Beauty looks to conquer the UK following a strong track record in its home country, its founder sat down with Cosmetics Business to share insight into its journey to Selfridges and what is next for the beauty brand.

“I had always wanted to have my own beauty brand and I just took about two decades to get here,” says O’Connor.

“People are like, ‘oh, I feel like it is kind of happening quickly’, and I am like, ‘no, I have been working on this for a very long time’.”

Poco Beauty was built on O'Connor's love for fashion and beauty, launching in 2023 with a single sku, the brand’s hero Universal Glow.

The products are a melting pot of Korean and Italian formulas, depending on the sku, with O’Connor turning to the manufacturers based in the regions she believes to be the crème de la crème of formulators.

She highlights: “I am okay for someone to say, 'Oh, that is not my shade,' but I am not okay for someone to say, 'that is not good quality’.

“That can never happen. It has to be of exceptional quality because my reputation is everything to me."

Now, having taken its team from three to more than 55 employees, Poco Beauty is gearing up for a British invasion as it opens a D2C shopping channel alongside entry into Selfridges department stores across the UK.
