Cosmetics Business looks at eight new beauty launches out in January, including a sneak peek at the upcoming hair care line from lifestyle brand Pardon My Fro

Trailblazing skin care brand Byoma celebrated its first birthday this week and launched a new Brightening Toner.

Elsewhere, a new eyeshadow palette inspired by rock band Evanescence has been released by cosmetics brand HipDot.

Other notable launches include a Matte Lipstick from Avon, which has been formulated with a hyaluronic moisturising core, as well as a new hyaluronic serum from Vichy Laboratoires.

Byoma has added a new Brightening Toner to its growing skin care brand.

The launch marks the company’s first foray into acids, with the inclusion of both lactic and mandelic acid-based formulas in the product to gently exfoliate skin.

This helps to improve skin tone and texture while also supporting the skin’s natural barrier.

Birch extract and urea have been formulated to help regulate cell function for sensitive skins.

Byoma recommends applying to clean, dry skin with hands, and patting gently into the face, neck and décolletage.

2. HipDot

Cosmetics Business picks: 8 beauty launches to know this week

Make-up brand HipDot has released an Evanescence eyeshadow palette inspired by the band’s debut album Fallen.

The blue-themed Fallen CD Palette is in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary and is inspired by the LP’s cover art which features lead singer Amy Lee’s signature smoky eye.

Each of the eight shades are named after a hit song on the album.

Bring Me To Life is a matte muted bluish-grey, My Immortal a foil royal blue and Taking Over a greyish periwinkle. 

Going Under is a shimmery bright white, Haunted a bright blue and silver foil and Everybody's Fool a matte dark blue.

3. Susanne Kaufmann

The new Refining Scalp & Body Scrub Susanne Kaufmann has been formulated to create smooth skin.

The multi-use product can be applied to a dry scalp and skin to buff away build-up, toxins and dead skin cells.

It features a combination of natural exfoliants and hydrating plant oils including rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, apricot kernel oil and blackcurrant seeds.

4. Dior

Dior’s latest Forever Primer and Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer come in two finishes, including matte with Dior Forever Velvet Veil and glow with Dior Forever Glow Veil.

The concealer keeps skin hydrated with wild pansy extract, which stimulates water circulation and boosts the natural hydration process.

For the Forever Primer, the product helps to absorb excess sebum with a rose-hip extract that refines pores and enables controlled shine.

5. Avon

Avon has created a new Hydramatic Matte Lipstick with a hyaluronic moisturising core that is designed to keep lips hydrated.

A blend of skin care ingredients, including hyaluronic acid and glycerin, have been formulated in the make-up product to keep lips moisturised while also providing an intense matte colour.

6. Vichy Laboratoires

Vichy Laboratoires’ new highly concentrated serum contains 0.2% pure retinol and 1% probiotic fractions to improve and hydrate skin.

The Liftactiv Retinol Specialist Serum has been formulated to reduce wrinkles and lines, improve overall skin tone and boost skin's radiance.

The fragrance free formula also helps to improve the appearance of dark spots.

7. Forest Essentials

Forest Essentials has released its new Transformative Soundarya Night Cream.  

Bakuchiol, which is marketed as a natural alternative to retinol, stars in the formula.

Manihot tuber extract has also been included and is said to strengthen the skin barrier function and prevent skin cell damage.

Cow’s Milk Pure Desi Ghee also features, which deeply nourishes and helps eliminate fine lines.

Hand-poured into each jar, the serum moisturises skin, improving elasticity and firmness.

8. Pardon My Fro

Lifestyle brand Pardon My Fro is about to expand into beauty with a hair care line.

The six-strong collection has been designed for hair types up to 4C, which is classified as having the tightest curl pattern.

The Hair & Scalp Oil has been formulated with almond, avocado and jojoba oil, while Edge Boss controls, holds and smooths hair using biotin and vitamin B7.

Shea butter, aloe leaf juice and castor seed oil feature in the Curl Enhancer Cream, designed to refresh hair.

Also included is the Moisturizing Hair Milk, which shields, softens and prevents hair damage and contains jojoba oil and argan oil.
