Plant-based ingredients supplier Indena has inked a deal with Hyris, a UK-based biotechnology company, for the on-site identification of botanical species.
Under the cooperation agreement, the companies will develop methods dedicated to the genomic identification of botanical species based on a unique set of reagents for specific DNA sequences (bKITs) and the use of Hyris’ bCUBE miniaturised portable technology, a device for the analysis of nucleic acids.
Indena says it will use the technology to identify plant materials for the nutraceuticals industry.
