If there is a current rising star of perfumery, Jérôme di Marino is it. The protégé of Francis Kurkdjian – the renowned perfumer behind Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male and Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez – the Paris-based creative has been lauded as a leading member of the new generation of noses to harness inspiration from outside beauty and put their twist on classic fragrance codes.
Under Kurkdjian’s mentorship, di Marino has produced some of the biggest launches of the past few years from Carven to Elie Saab, as well as his own independent ventures, but it’s his latest project that signals the passing from apprentice to master.
Kurkdjian first partnered with Kenzo to create the World flanker in 2016 and has been responsible for the next five launches – except the latest. With the baton passed, di Marino became the sole creator of Kenzo World Power, which hit shelves this month.
