Henkel – the German personal care giant – has defended its decision to continue operating in Russia, as a full withdrawal could have “far-fetching” consequences.

In a statement to Cosmetics Business, the Schwarzkopf owner said that it employed 2,500 staff in Russia, some of whom have been working for Henkel for decades.

“We also feel responsible for them,” the group said.
