Consumers apply sunscreen before a day at the beach or before lounging by the pool, but are they remembering to protect their skin during other instances of sun exposure?
In an effort to ensure dog walkers in the US remember to protect their skin while out and about, sun care brand Hawaiian Tropic has upgraded that other dog owner essential, the poop bag.
The dog poop bags are infused with the Hawaiian Tropic brand’s iconic tropical scent, to jog dog walkers’ memories if they haven’t already applied sunscreen prior to exercising their pooches.
Dog owners can visit HawaiianTropicPawsForSPF.com to claim their free bags and coupons for a range of Hawaiian Tropic SPF products.
The Edgewell Personal Care-owned label noted that, since the pandemic, dog ownership rates have spiked, with more than half of Gen Z and Millennials reporting owning a dog in 2020, an increase of seven million new dog owners from the prior year.
However, only 16% of Gen Z and Millennial dog owners wear sunscreen regularly (GlobalWebIndex).
"The fact is, without protection, the sun's UV rays can harm your skin in as little as 15 minutes, which is equivalent to the time it takes for a short walk with your dog," said Anastasia Tobias, Head of Marketing, Sun, Edgewell Personal Care.
"Infusing the Hawaiian Tropic scent – which is synonymous with warm, sunny days – into dog poop bags is a fun and useful way to remind people that sunscreen isn't just for the beach."
