Black Friday is an annual celebration of hyper-consumerism. On both sides of the Atlantic, brands large and small are slashing prices to boost sales before Christmas.
In the UK alone, shoppers are forecast to spend £2.53bn on 29 November, up by 3.4% on last year, according to a report by the Centre for Retail Research. Across the full weekend, from Black Friday to Cyber Monday, British customers are predicted to spend £8.57bn.
But in the face of a climate crisis, when consumers are increasingly concerned about over-consumption and the environmental impact of their beauty routine, an increasing number of brands are providing greener alternatives.
The result is Green Friday, a
