Georg W. Claussen, a long time CEO and honorary Chairman of Beiersdorf AG, died on 21 March aged 100. Claussen was the grand nephew of Oscar Troplowitz, former owner of Beiersdorf and co-inventor of Nivea Creme in 1911, and served on Beiersdorf’s supervisory board for 22 years.
“We have lost a towering businessman and luminary. Georg W. Claussen has left a lasting mark on Beiersdorf and what he achieved laid the foundation for today’s success. We stand humbly before his absence today with a great respect. Our sympathies go out to his family,” said Stefan F. Heidenreich, CEO.
Meanwhile, the company’s executive board member Peter Feld is to leave the company effective 31 July. Stefan F. Heidenreich, CEO of Beiersdorf AG, will assume additional responsibility for Feld’s executive board duties until further notice. Feld joined the board in August 2010, responsible for the Europe/North America region if Beiersdorf’s business.
“Beiersdorf AG would like to thank Peter Feld for his leadership of our key Europe/North America region. We regret that Mr. Feld has decided not to extend his contract on its expiry and wish him every success for the future, both personally and professionally,” said Reinhard Pöllath, Chairman of Beiersdorf AG’s Supervisory Board.
