Firmenich launches new generation of gourmand scents

Fragrance creator Firmenich has developed a new olfactive concept that translates food flavours into highly authentic fragrance notes.
Smell-The-Taste is said to enable Firmenich’s perfumers to create poly-sensorial fragrances with recognisable notes that allow consumers to ‘smell’ taste and texture. It is hoped that the company will be able to explore new olfactive avenues and push the fragrance/gastronomy boundaries beyond the existing gourmands and fruits and create a new generation of scents. The concept was conducted in partnership with Archetype Discovery Worldwide and medical and cultural anthropologist, Dr Clotaire Rapaille.
“It is fascinating that Smell-The-Taste products can elicit such primal responses in a luxury product and evoke emotions of warmth, comfort and intimacy, while activating childhood memories culturally imprinted with food and love,” commented Firmenich master perfumer, Harry Fremont.
