ECJ says banning cosmetics internet sales breaches EU law... usually
Ruling on Pierre Fabre ban
The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled a ban by French cosmetics company Pierre Fabre on distributors selling certain products via the internet probably breaks EU competition law. The ECJ said the company would have to demonstrate “a legitimate aim” for such a ban to be legal, serving the public interest. And that could not include “the need to maintain the prestigious image of [Pierre Fabre’s] products”.
