Denny Bros Ltd’s long-standing commitment to greener measures has once again been shown with a further £200,000 investment in solar panels at its Kempson Way headquarters.
The latest financial outlay, the fourth investment in eight years through grants and the company’s own budget, is particularly prudent as it completes the solar panel project – meaning there is now more than 1,800 panels on the roof.
Managing Director, Graham Denny, said: “We have come a long way since we first installed a small solar panels ‘test’ system in 2014."
“Since then, we have maintained our commitment to the environment and this latest investment is our fourth and final phase as our roof is now completely full.”
The Denny Bros Group has had a long-standing environmental impact reduction programme, for which it has received many awards including being awarded Suffolk Carbon Charter Gold status earlier in 2022.
While completing the environmental project has been almost a decade in the making, Mr Denny said he was aware that it is now more important than ever.
He explained: “Despite the fact that we have some very energy hungry machinery on site, our investment means that, in favourable weather, we are now able to generate sufficient electricity to not only power our entire plant but also generate a surplus to feed back into the grid."
“We were committed to the investment even before the recent astronomical rises in energy costs. We were always confident it would be a good investment, but it looks even better now.”
