The Platinum rating by EcoVadis was accompanied by a new first for the company, with Croda achieving the highest carbon management level in Ecovadis’ new carbon scorecard. Croda was given the highest ‘Leader’ rating for its net zero ambition and approved science-based targets.
EcoVadis’ sustainability assessment methodology is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into their business and management systems. Croda was identified as having advanced CSR practices across Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.
Commenting on the assessment, Sustainability Director, Julia Creasey said: “We have been assessed by EcoVadis for a decade now, using it as a tool for continuous improvement. We first achieved a Gold status in 2012. Since then, we have consistently improved and we are determined to go even further, aiming to be ‘outstanding’ in all Ecovadis’ themes by 2030. This ambition underpins our leadership position and commitment to being the most sustainable supplier of innovative ingredients.
“In becoming only the third major chemical company in the world to have a 1.5°C science-based target validated, we are already leading our sector. We are now turning that ambition into action with investment-ready decarbonisation roadmaps across all of our manufacturing sites.”
