Cosmetics Business Picks: 9 beauty launches to know in December

Cosmetics Business rounds up eight new skin care and fragrance releases which have hit store shelves this month

Less than a month after Harry Styles' Pleasing launched a sex-themed perfume, the brand has unveiled a candle range inspired by the same scents.

Formulated using a soy wax blend, the candles are housed in a keepsake glass bowl that shares the same colours as its matching fragrance bottle.

Obayaty, a new male make-up brand, also launched its debut seven-piece collection this week.

1. Ffør

Hair care brand Ffør has launched its new Mocha Colour dye collection.

The shades are inspired by the tones of coffee, chocolate and nature, and include Medium Mocha Brown, Light Mocha Brown, Dark Mocha Blonde and Medium Mocha Blonde.

The products also feature a bergamot, black pepper and vetiver scent, and have been infused with grapeseed oil and Brazil nut oil.

This helps hair to retain moisture throughout the colouring process, whilst bringing added shine and softness.

2. Pleasing

Harry Styles’ beauty brand Pleasing has launched a new candle collection based on its recent sex-inspired fragrance range.

Formulated using a soy wax blend, the candles are housed in a keepsake glass bowl inspired by the colours of its corresponding fragrance bottle.

For Closeness, Australian pink pepper extract, cardamom and clean sheets accord form the scent’s top notes.

This has been combined with orris butter, carrot seed and bamboo, with salted musk, Indian papyrus and cashmere woods rounding off the base.

Bright, Hot, meanwhile, focuses on a woody, amber scent created from plum and tobacco leaves.

Orris butter and marine accord form the mid notes, while cedarwood, tonka bean, vanilla and crisp amber make up the fragrance’s base.

Finally, Rivulets offers a floral and fresh amber scent, created from ambrette seed, set against lemon and black pepper Madagascar.

This has been combined with white linen accord and poplin blossom.

3. Gama Italy Professional

Gama Italy Professional has launched its new iQ3 hair dryer.

The product features the brand’s ‘Smart Performance’ system, which is said to provide hair health benefits for the user.

Other key considerations include the 'e-system C', a blinking red light and an audible reminder to signal when the filter requires cleaning or replacement.

Enhanced airflow technology also helps to create volume, while a cooling effect maintains an efficient temperature.

4. Obayaty

Obayaty is a new dedicated male make-up brand which has launched this week.

It debuted with a seven-strong collection which includes an Eye Booster, Tinted Eye Cream, Retouch Stick Concealer, Lip Balm, Eye Pen Nail Colour, Illuminating Stick Highlighter.

The range also includes a Face Contour Stick, which has been designed to enhance facial features with a buildable and blendable formula.

Bisabolol, derived from the candeia tree, has been included in the formulation, which helps to protect and soothe the skin barrier.

Hyaluronic acid, meanwhile, works to hydrate skin, while extracts from the Pistacia lentiscus evergreen shrubs help fight signs of ageing.

The Retouch Stick, meanwhile, is a medium coverage concealer that both covers and protects skin.

It features five shades and has been designed to smooth skin and minimises the appearance of dark circles. 

Ingredients include camelina sativa seed oil and thyme extract.

5. Green People

Green People’s new Hydrating Firming Serum is out now.

The skin serum works to hydrate, soothe and plump all skin types, and features a blend of pre and probiotics that help to enhance the skin barrier. 

Marshmallow has also been added to increase hydration, while aloe vera and chamomile calms and soothes skin.

The product is rounded off with the scent of rose geranium and eucalyptus.

6. Glossier

Glossier has partnered with Starface on a limited edition pink spot sticker compact.

The millennial pink beauty company has worked with the Gen Z yellow spot sticker giant to create a mirrored compact which features Glossier-branded hydrocolloid pimple patches.

The patch designs are based on Glossier’s emoji sticker sheets which were included in its original product packaging when the brand launched in 2014.

These include three-eyed smiley faces, hearts, cherries and rainbows.

The Glossier x Starface spot sticker compact features 32 branded patches which are made with 100% hydrocolloid.

7. Elleebana

Elleebana has launched its new Elleeplex Hyaluronic Boost Serum.

The product works to hydrate, strengthen and add volume to lashes and brows.

It contains a blend of peptides, sodium hyaluronate, vitamins and plant extracts which add shine and strengthen follicles.

Kakadu has also been included, which features elastin boosting and gloss restoration properties.

Wheat, soy and corn micro proteins round off the ingredients list, which are designed to restore the hair's inner structure.

8. Story mfg

Story mfg has launched its debut fragrance collection.

This includes Never Ending Meadow, which features top notes of tropical daisy, juniper berry, angelica root and mimosa.

The heart notes, meanwhile, are made up of cypress, chamomile, petitgrain and lavender and set against a base of jasmine sambac, amyris and nutmeg.

The second edp, Earth Tone Research, uses cardamom, bergamot, rosemary and black pepper for its top notes. 

Fir needle, lavender, geranium and ginger lily root also feature, with cypress and black tea making up the base scent.

Mitti Attar, a luxury scent distilled from discarded tea vessels, features in both perfumes, which the brand described as having “the smell of the earth after rain”.

For the packaging, the stopper, resembling a stone, has been handcrafted from cotton paper and other dead-stock material.

9. The Skinny Confidential

It has been designed to stimulate the lymphatic system, exfoliate skin and also help detoxify the body using soft and natural bristles.

The brand said this can help to improve blood circulation, as well as rejuvenate skin for a silkier feel.
