Co-operative picks up pharmacies from Alliance Boots

The Co-operative Group has announced the acquisition of 21 pharmacy branches from Alliance Boots for an undisclosed sum. Around 170 Alliance Boots staff will also transfer under the terms of the acquisition and the branches will be rebranded in accordance with the Co-operative Pharmacy format.

“In recent years our pharmacy business has grown rapidly and we continue to have ambitious plans for future expansion and development,” commented Martin Beaumont, Co-operative Group chief executive. Co-operative Pharmacy is the UK's third largest pharmacy chain with 433 branches across the UK.
