Clarins acquires Kibio natural C&T business

Clarins has acquired the entire range of the Kibio natural cosmetics products, after deciding to support the start-up company some four years ago.


Clarins has acquired the entire range of the Kibio natural cosmetics products, after deciding to support the start-up company some four years ago. Clarins acquired 10% of Kibio in 2006 with the option to increase this stake to 60%. Kibio's revenue has risen to around €8m last year.

The company was set up by a former L'Oréal financial manager, Pierre Cabane, in collaboration with Laurent Potier. The initial range of some 20 face and body care products emerged in early 2006 with a Cosmébio label, with the products almost entirely made up of natural ingredients in a formulation which replaces water with floral distillates.
