Chinese beauty brand owner and distributor S'Young Group Co has acquired luxury French skin care brand EviDenS de Beauté for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2007 by Charles-Edouard Barthes, the prestige company has worked with S'Young since 2019 to enter Sephora doors throughout China, hire actress Li Ruotong as a local ambassador, and develop marketing strategy across television and social media.
Barthes will remain as CEO and a minority shareholder, said S'Young, and EviDenS de Beauté will operate as an independent subsidiary with its current leadership team.
"With the help of S'Young, EviDenS de Beauté has been growing rapidly in the Chinese market, which now occupies a large proportion of its sales, and its hero product is ranked top two in high-end facial masks by Tmall of Alibaba, the largest e-commerce platform in China," said the Chinese firm in a statement.
"This is owing to S'Young breaking the traditional single-channel sales model of agents.
"The new model integrates all business elements, covers all sales channels, connects the whole business chain, and makes concerted efforts in all respects such as brand, product, market, channel and supply chain, finally realising the leapfrog development of EviDenS de Beauté in China."
S'Young, founded in 2012, is a distributor for a number of western cosmetic brands, including J&J's e-commerce business for the region.
Jo Loves, Kiko Milano and Lumene are also among its portfolio.
