New legislation announced by the Chinese government will more than double the number of banned substances for use in cosmetic products in China.


New legislation announced by the Chinese government will more than double the number of banned substances for use in cosmetic products in China.

From 1st July this year 790 new substances will be added to the existing 496 that are banned, with the aim of keeping up with to international standards.

In addition modifications have been made to the lists of raw materials for hair dyes and sun-screen products, and the outline methods of testing for banned substances have been modified. New evaluation standards have been introduced for sun-screen products, specifically for their waterproof characteristics.
