The new scent for singer Beyonce Knowles has hit troubled waters already with US clothing brand Abercrombie & Fitch filling legal papers against the star.
According to the clothing brand, should the fragrance be named after the star’s alter ego ‘Sasha Fierce’ it would cause an infringement on its own brand of aftershave, Fierce - which the company trademarked in 2003.
Despite there reportedly being court documents that state that Knowles filed for an application with the US Patent and Trademarked Office in September 2008 for the Sasha Fierce mark in the fragrance category, Coty, the fragrance house creating the scent, has stated that Knowles will not be using this name. “We can confirm at this time that the terms Fierce and Sasha Fierce are not being used as names of a Beyonce perfume,” said a spokesperson.
