The Dermanostic app enables consumers to access dermatologists with 24 hours

Beiersdorf, the maker of Nivea and La Prairie, has invested in a tech start-up that provides consumers with app-based dermatology advice.

The deal was made via the German brand's owners venture capital division Oscar & Paul, which provides financial support for skin care and digital entrepreneurs.

The company's new investment, Dermanostic, allows users from around the globe access to dermatologists for €25 within 24 hours of appointment.

Medical professionals using Dermanostic will be able to provide patients with a prescription.

Beiersdorf reported that the start-up reflects the growing teledermatology sector, which is driven by younger consumers.

Teledermatology is a method within the medical field that enables patients and professionals to communicate remotely via technology.

Beiersdorf-owned Eucerin will be available via the app.

Ascan Voswinckel, Head of Oscar & Paul, said: "Digital dermatologist appointments offer our consumers significant added value as they allow for swift, straightforward, inexpensive and professional advice regarding their skin indication.

"As such, Dermanostic's new digital service is the perfect fit for our Eucerin brand and innovatively complements our dermocosmetic brand’s digital consumer journey.”

Dr Ole Martin, Managing Director and co-founder of Dermanostic, added: "In the past few months alone, we have seen what a good match dermanostic and Eucerin are.

"As part of the cooperation, interested users can find information about our offers and services on a dedicated landing page at eucerin.de.

"Users with skin problems also have the opportunity to go directly to the dermanostic service to receive a skin consultation. An offer that has been well received.”
