Beauty devices to shape future of skin care
Beauty devices have created a \"mega category\" and are transforming the skin care market and consumer behaviour according to Diagonal Reports
Beauty devices are creating a new benchmark in facial skin care, according to new research from Diagonal Reports. “Beauty devices have created a mega category and are transforming the skin care market and consumer behaviour, just as the electric toothbrush and the hair iron changed oral care and hair styling,” said the company.
“Beauty technology – including cleansing brushes, light based platforms and skin care systems – has created a huge new market worth billions of dollars.”
The market researcher expects exponential growth rates for beauty devices to continue for the foreseeable future, primarily due to the ability for devices to deliver immediate results especially for core skin care problems such as anti-ageing and blemish removal.
Furthermore, technology has democratised beauty outcomes that were previously unaffordable with roughly 70% of women admitting they would like to own a beauty device.
“Despite the recession, women continue to spend on their facial care,” said Diagonal. “They justify the price by factoring in the cost saved on skin care products and the time required for visits to the spa or dermatologist. Positive consumer reviews and feedback about immediate results – all now online – are a major factor in driving strong demand.”
