Online beauty and fashion Behemoth Asos is poised to name José Antonio Ramos Calamonte as its CEO.
According to The Times, Ramos Calamonte – currently Asos’ Chief Commercial Officer – will replace Nick Beighton, who announced his departure almost eight months ago.
Boardroom disagreements are said to be the catalyst for his departure.
Initially, Asos went after Rob Hattrell, head of eBay’s European arm, for the top job, but Hattrell rejected the position.
Asos has been helmed by its Chief Financial Officer, Mat Dunn, in the interim, after Beighton’s departure was announced in October 2021.
Ramos Calamonte, meanwhile, has been with the business for 17 months, which he joined from Portuguese retailer Salsa Jeans, where he served as CEO.
His career has also led him to work for Inditex, the owner of major fashion and beauty retailer Zara.
Since Beighton’s exit, the business has been blighted by supply chain issues and a slowdown in sales.
Reports show that Asos’ sales growth has slowed to just 1% for the six months to 28 February.
Ramos Calamonte has not yet been confirmed by the online seller.
