Altana inks deal with USBP

Speciality chemicals company, Altana Group, whose portfolio includes Eckhart Effect Pigments, has acquired the effect pigments business of United States Bronze Powders Inc (USBP).


Speciality chemicals company, Altana Group, whose portfolio includes Eckhart Effect Pigments, has acquired the effect pigments business of United States Bronze Powders Inc (USBP).

American USBP will retain its powder and aluminium businesses but Altana will take on USBP’s production of copper, bronze and stainless steel pigments, along with press-ready metallic printing inks, which will be integrated into Eckhart’s Effect Pigments division. No manufacturing sites or employees are included in the deal and production will be transferred to Eckhart’s US affiliate and to its main factory in Germany.

“With this acquisition our product range is strategically complemented, we can create synergies and improve our position in particular in the North American market,” said Dr Christoph Schlünken, president division Eckhart Effect Pigments.
