Paris-based make-up producer Alkos Cosmetics, which develops and manufactures for major cosmetics groups, has completed the acquisition of Financière Beauté (FB). Alkos has annual sales of about €11.8m and a production base in Boulogne, while FB has sales of about €21m and two production plants – Inter Cosmetiques in Angers and Sagal at Gaillardon near Chartres.
The operation involved taking over a company twice its size so Alkos engaged an investment fund and other partners to take a 24% stake in a holding company, Alkos Developpement, while Alkos held the remaining 76%. Alkos devotes some 5% of turnover to research, enabling it to develop and formulate make-up products for the major players in the cosmetics and luxury products sectors. Its range will now be extended with the addition Sagal soaps and deodorants and make-up and body care products produced by Inter Cosmetiques.
Alkos owner, Gerard Gieux says the company now has a complete and diversified range with the exception of perfumes. Both its acquired plants are to be modernised, while the export business of Inter and Sagal will be expanded to match that of Alkos.
