US drugstore giant Walgreens and Alliance Boots have jointly named Alex Gourlay as Walgreens Executive Vice President, President of Customer Experience and Daily Living, effective 1 October.
Gourlay, who is currently Chief Executive of the Health & Beauty Division at Alliance Boots, will report to Greg Wasson, Walgreens President and Chief Executive Officer.
As part of his new role, Gourlay will be tasked with leading the Walgreens Daily Living business, overseeing customer experience, US merchandising, marketing, customer insights, daily living products and promotions.
In June last year, Walgreens has entered into a $6.7bn deal in exchange for a 45% in Alliance Boots. Following this, the companies put into place a two-step process to aid the integration of the two organisations. This involved establishing a joint venture in Switzerland and the transition of key Walgreens and Alliance Boots executives to that business.
