Alain Khaiat honoured with in-cosmetics Lifetime Award
Industry recognises Khaiat\'s contribution to cosmetic science
All nominations and votes for the award came from members of the industry to ensure the award was a true reflection of the cosmetics business.
Nominations began last autumn and a shortlist of four finalists was drawn from over 60 individuals. Over 1,800 votes were cast in total. The four finalists were Khaiat, Daniel Maes, Johann Wiechers and Karl Lintner.
Khaiat was presented with the award at a special ceremony during in-cosmetics this week in Paris. Clearly moved by the honour, Khaiat said he was touched by the fact that so many people he has worked with over the years had made the effort to vote for him. "It was an achievement to be one of the four nominees and being the winner is very emotional."
Khaiat has been involved in the field of science for over 40 years and even post-retirement he continues to contribute significantly to the cosmetic industry. He has worked for several key companies throughout his career, including Revlon, where he coordinated all technical activities outside of the US, Yves Rocher Cosmetics, where he was responsible for a range of key product developments and Johnson & Johnson, where he headed up over 350 staff worldwide.
Khaiat has always dedicated his time to educating and emphasising the importance of safety within the cosmetics industry and was the founding member of several ASEAN associations. He has been credited with bringing together the Asian, American and European cosmetic markets and is considered to be a key educator in the field.
