When silence isn't golden

Two new facial skin care products from La Prairie (Beiersdorf) both promise to tackle the silent inflammation said to be the primary cause of premature ageing.

Described as proactive anti-agers, the creams are said to work at the cellular level and contain the same biotechnology as Anti-Aging Complex as well as the company’s Sun Protection Complex. Together these treat diminished elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles and age spots, while stimulating cellular turnover and enhancing collagen synthesis.

Anti-Ageing Emulsion SPF30 claims to protect and plump the skin thanks to advanced bio-botanical skinpatch technology. An encapsulated vitamin complex fights free radicals, carnosine is said to retard protein damage in the dermal matrix, and a patented cellular complex helps stimulate the skin’s natural repair process.

Anti-Aging Eye Cream SPF15 is claimed to hydrate and firm the skin with multi-action interceptors which are said to act at every stage of ageing, addressing redness, dehydration and loss of firmness. Key ingredients include bio-intervention Eye Complex, hesperetin, malt extract and black tea extracts.

l Launch: International from September.

l Prices: €122 for eye cream, €158 for emulsion.
