Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra extract – is a widely known natural plant material obtained from the root.

It has been used for thousands of years in both Eastern and Western medicine for its internal medicinal benefits, along with its long history of being added as a flavouring in foods.

Its relevance for skin care, whilst also historical, has trended strongly in recent years because of purified bioactive components and their ability to effectively lighten the skin, including age spots, without causing irritation.
