Sustainable skin care brand UpCircle Beauty is taking the next step in its zero waste beauty journey as it unveils its new return and refill scheme.
Rolling out in time for Earth Day on 22 April, customers can now return their empty packaging to the UK-based brand at no extra charge, in an effort to reduce both its carbon footprint and costs to the consumer.
The returned packaging will then be sterilised, refilled and returned back to the original sender, in a process designed to be as simple and streamlined as possible to encourage customers to take advantage of the new service, which has been 'eagerly awaited' by consumers, according to the 'by-product beauty' brand.
Anna Brightman, co-founder of UpCircle, said: “We’re so excited about the launch of our packaging return scheme.
“As a brand designed entirely around circular economy principles and extending the life of by-product ingredients, it’s a no brainer for us to take the same approach with our packaging.
“Following the success of retailing our range in bulk packaging-free refill stores across the country, a packaging return scheme for our own online store was always the next tick box for us to check off.
“Here’s to the next step in our brand evolution. Circular ingredients, circular use of packaging. It just makes sense!”
The service will be available across UpCircle's entire product range, which features skin care products made from repurposed waste ingredients from industries including argan, tea, juice, date, olive and wood; an effort which has seen the brand collect more than 350 tonnes of used coffee from London cafes.
Meanwhile, all of the brand's packaging is said to be 100% recyclable, giving consumers the option to either return or recycle their packaging while being kind to the planet.
Customers can purchase products as a refill, and receive 20% off the item's original retail price, at upcirclebeauty.com.
