The popular plush toy brand is stepping into beauty and personal care products in partnership with celebrity beauty licensing company BoldFace Group

US celebrity beauty licensing company BoldFace Group has entered into a licensing agreement with Pretty Ugly LLC, the brand behind the popular Uglydoll brand, to create a line of beauty and personal care products. The comprehensive product line up is expected to include bath, soap, shower and body care products, lip balms, fragrance, and bath accessories to be released in late 2013.

Created by David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim in 2001, the Uglydoll franchise has gained global success through its line of licensed products. In January, it was revealed Universal Partnerships & Licensing are set to grow the brand through creating interactive and wireless content such as apps and games for the Uglydoll franchise. A feature film based on the Uglydoll characters is also currently in development by Illumination Entertainment.

Internationally, the dolls are sold in major department stores such as Barneys, along with concept boutiques such as Colette Paris.

"We are committed to the positive message that ‘Ugly is the new beautiful’. The brand's specific, unisex attitude and whimsical edge will be conveyed through design, packaging, unique scents and the use of quality ingredients with result driven formulas. We will make products that will make us feel good inside and out," said Nicole Ostoya, Boldface CEO.
