Toni&Guy has teamed up with UK charity Macmillan Cancer to launch Strength in Style, a new initiative to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

The hairdressing and hair care brand has developed a specific training programme that will ensure cancer patients have access to a salon in their area, where a trained hairstylist will be able to provide specialist support and advice on hair care.

The course is due to launch in March next year and will cover everything a stylist needs to know about speaking to people affected by cancer, including hair loss and wig styling and cutting, according to the brand.

Toni&Guy staff will also be fundraising throughout 2010 for Macmillan.

“Hair loss can have a really devastating impact on people through cancer treatment,” says Charles Byrne, Macmillan’s head of corporate partnerships. “The relationship between a person and their hairdresser is extremely personal and so we are extremely excited about our new partnership with Toni&Guy. Working together we can achieve our aim for people affected by cancer to receive expert care on every major high street in the UK.”
