Positive response to NYSCC Suppliers’ Day
Show started yesterday
The New York Society of Cosmetic Scientists (NYSCC) Suppliers’ Day began yesterday (15 May) at the New Jersey Convention Center. In her welcome letter, show chair Debbie McCarthy stressed how much the show has progressed since its inception. “From its humble beginnings, Suppliers’ Day has grown into one of the industry’s premier events with hundreds of exhibitors and several thousand attendees,” she said.
The first day of the 2012 expo was met with a positive response from attendees, who commented on its busyness and the quality and diversity of visitors.“It’s a good crowd,” said John Paro, president and ceo of The HallStar Company. “This is THE show in NorthAmerica; it’s the only one I go to myself. It’s got the right buzz about it.”
“It’s been a very good show so far,” added Steven Smith, R&D technologist, Technical Service Team, Noveon Consumer Specialties (Lubrizol). “There’s been a lot of traffic, we’ve had a lot of question and answer sessions and actually had a lot of requests for some sit down meetings to talk about our new polymers and new chemistries.
“We’ve had good business today regarding sample requests too. In this economic environment it’s nice to see an upsurge in sample requests – it means there are a lot of new projects going on.” And, commenting on the visitor demographic, Laurie Marshall, global marketing manager, Hair Styling at AkzoNobel told SPC: “Compared to five or ten years ago we’re seeing more managers. In the past it was like every formulator in the east coast was here! But now we’re getting a broader range of people than a few years ago. We’ve also seen a lot of people from the west coast.”
