ORF Genetics launches Dermokine™ growth factors
The world’s first plant-based growth factors setting new standards for the cosmetics industry
ORF Genetics announced today the launch of Dermokine™ growth factors, the world’s first plant-based growth factors suitable for safe, effective cosmetic formulations.
Dermokine™ growth factors are produced from the seeds of genetically modified barley and provide the long-awaited and improved alternative to those traditionally produced in E. coli, yeast or animal cells.
The Dermokine™ product line incorporates six human-like growth factors, including EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor), the most thoroughly studied growth factor in the medical field. Its efficacy is supported by a number of clinical studies and it is known to have a rejuvenating and healing effect on skin in addition to improving the skin’s general appearance. All Dermokine™ growth factors are potential candidates for preventing the formation of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as being potential agents for stimulating hair growth.
The result of many years’ research and development by ORF Genetics, the production of biologically active, human-like protein molecules in plants holds great promise for a variety of industries. The barley used for the production of Dermokine™ growth factors is cultivated in volcanic pumice and watered with pure spring water in ORF Genetics’ state-of-the art 2,000 square meter greenhouse in Iceland, using renewable geothermal energy.
