Sensient enjoys record Q3

Strong performance in both fragrance and colour sectors


Sensient Technologies Corporation has reported record third quarter results for the quarter ended 30 September 2011. Diluted earnings per share totalled 64 cents, an increase of 12.3% on the 57 cents earned in the prior year quarter, excluding a two cent benefit from an insurance recovery. Consolidated revenue also reached a new third quarter high of $363.8m, up 6.7% on Q3 2010. Both Sensient’s colour and flavours and fragrances groups reported third quarter records for revenue and operating income. Colour reported revenue of $121m (up 6.8%) and an operating income increase of 14.2% to $22.9m. Flavours and fragrances enjoyed third quarter revenue growth of 6.7% to $221.2m, while operating income was $33.6m, an increase of 4.5% over last year’s third quarter.

Revenue for the nine months ended 30 September was $1.1bn, an increase of 10.3%. Diluted earnings per share were $1.84, up 12.9%, excluding the aforementioned two cent benefit.
