Online discovery platform received capital from UK angel investors

Online beauty discovery platform MyShowcase has raised £3m in two rounds of Series A funding. The Milton-Keynes based company said it will use the money to finance expansion plans across the UK.

The funding was raised from a number of UK angel investors in rounds managed by D5 Capital, a London-based corporate finance advisor.

CEO Nancy Cruickshank said: “The funding is a strong endorsement for our business model and growth trajectory. MyShowcase is creating a completely new channel of distribution for the beauty industry, making it easy for three participants in our community to make beauty their business – via a compelling, flexible opportunity for women, a personal service-focused beauty shopping experience for our clients and a vibrant distribution channel for our brand partners.

“Beauty is an enormous market in the UK, yet traditional retail has lacked innovation for all of these groups. Our aim is to provide an exciting and remunerative part-time career for women all over the world, so that they can earn money doing something they love.”

MyShowcase operates a direct-selling and online reorder business model. There are approximately 1,000 direct selling representatives, or ‘stylists’ as termed by the company, employed by MyShowcase.
