Iggesund Paperboard, Europes third largest manufactuer of virgin fibre paperboard – a material that is often used in cosmetics product packaging – has revealed plans to invest €60m into two of its mill facilities.
The investment will boost production efficiency and quality at two of Iggesund's mills at Iggesund, Sweden and Workington, England. At the mill in Iggesund the investment aims to eliminate bottlenecks in pulp production, in order to increase production from 270,000 tonnes to 420,000 tonnes.
Meanwhile, in Workington, the investments aim to increase the mill's paperboard production capacity form 200,000 tonnes to 220,000 tonnes. In addition, investment will be made in order to rebuild the mill's paperboard machine press section by June 2016. Once the rebuild is complete the mill is expected to become a leader in folding box board technology.
Arvid Sundblad, Vice President Sales and Marketing at Iggesund, said: “We are well equipped to face the increasingly tough competition in the paperboard market but above all with regard to other types of packaging material.”
