Gillette Venus has made its debut into a new beauty category with the launch of its first-ever dermaplaning skin care range.

The Venus for Facial Hair & Skin Care Collection, launched in partnership with Olay, is a trio of products designed to create a simple dermaplaning routine at-home.

Dermaplaning is the superficial exfoliation of the skin alongside the removal of vellus hair, also known as peach fuzz.

The Procter & Gamble-owned (P&G) brand said the goal of the launch was to help consumers safely perform the treatment.

“In our research, we found that women were searching for clarity on the best way to care for their skin while dermaplaning,” said Elizabeth Compo, Senior Scientist for P&G Female Shave Care.

“There was a need for a full regimen, with specially formulated products to use throughout the process.

“In addition to efficacy, we also heard that safety was top of mind, which is why we ensured all products in the collection are dermatologically tested for sensitive skin.”

The collection includes non-astringent Cleansing Primer, to be used before dermaplaning and is formulated with soothing cucumber and aloe vera.

The Dermaplaning Razor for hair removal features a blade surrounded by the brand’s Skin Defense Guard – a rounded protective tip to provide a controlled shave.

It is said to be up to 20% thinner compared to other blades on the market, “which reduces the force it takes to cut through hair,” said the brand.

Water-based Hydrating Serum has been formulated to replenish moisture post-dermaplaning, comprising hyaluronic acid, witch hazel, cucumber, aloe, and vitamins B3 and B5.

An electric mini hair remover is also available for touch-ups.

Dana Malcolm, Senior Brand Director North America P&G Female Shave Care, commented: “Dermaplaning is something many women are doing, or are interested in, but can sometimes feel overwhelming to adopt into their beauty routines.

“We are now excited to introduce a complete dermaplaning regimen with Venus for Facial Hair & Skin Care with Olay to allow every person to glow their own way.”

The products are all endorsed by the skin health accreditation body Skin Health Alliance.
