Burberry has tapped British-French actress Emma Mackey to front the campaign for its latest female fragrance, Burberry Goddess.
The Sex Education and Barbie star appears alongside a pride of lionesses – created using footage of the animals in the wild and CGI technology – in the brand’s latest campaign, which is said to represent the power of female strength and inner confidence, according to the Coty-licensed luxury brand.
The 27-year-old described her new ambassador role as “special and personal”, adding: “Fragrance has always been a great love of mine, and I am fascinated with the power that scent can have and the way that it can immediately transport you to a specific time and place in your life.”
The new Burberry Goddess fragrance (£126 for 100ml) features a trio of three types of vanilla, using different extraction methods, promising to deliver “a new kind of rich olfactive experience”, according to perfumer Amandine Clerc-Marie.
It includes top notes of vanilla infusion, said to provide the brightest woody vanilla possible, and lavender; heart notes of firgood, also known as vanilla caviar, described as a sweet, rich and animalic vanilla; and a base of vanilla absolute, said to enhance the fragrance with a “mysterious, milky aspect”, said Clerc-Marie.
The edp is also Burberry’s first-ever refillable fragrance, with the bottle featuring a gabardine-inspired gold label that nods to the brand’s heritage, and finished with a gold medallion.
