Hair and beauty businesses contribute £6.6bn to the UK economy according to a new report commissioned by the Hair & Barber Council in conjunction with the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC).

The figure represents an 8% share of the UK retail sector’s total value, according to the report and was collated using information from 49,000 businesses employing 337,000 people.
