New data has supported the effect of snowflake bulb extract on lightening skin tone.

IBR-Snowflake® (leucojum aestivum bulb extract) has been found to have a number of skincare benefits, including slowing down ageing, increasing the skin's natural defence, targeting wrinkles and lightening the skin. The key technology found in the flower bulb is DORMINs – the process whereby the bulbs go dormant throughout the winter and awaken in the spring rejuvenated. The implementation of DORMINs in skin care therefore allows a slowdown of cell proliferation, preserving youth cell capital and improving the skin's appearance and maturation process. As a result, this function could improve the appearance of age spots and lighten the skin tone overall, by reducing melanin synthesis.

Tests also found an ability for IBR-Snowflake to effectively inhibit the contraction of muscle cells, preventing wrinkles and fine lines and potentially presenting a non-injectable alternative to Botox. IBR is marketing the ingredient to product formulators as a novel and natural-based strategy for addressing advanced skin care from various fronts.
