US direct selling beauty giant Mary Kay has committed to donating $1 from each sale of its latest lipstick launch towards supporting women’s shelters and survivors of abuse.
From 15 May until 14 August, the limited edition Beauty That Counts Hearts Together Lipstick will help raise funds for The Mary Kay Foundation’s annual Shelter Grant Program. Mary Kay has been a long-time campaigner for ending domestic abuse and, over the past 15 years, has donated $50m to domestic violence prevention and awareness programmes.
Anne Crews, Vice President of Public Affairs for Mary Kay and a board member of The Mary Kay Foundation, explained that today one in four women in the US will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. She said: “This leaves many shelters at capacity and operating on a lean budget. Thanks to initiatives like Beauty That Counts, each year the Foundation awards grants to at least one domestic violence shelter in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.”
