L’Oréal launches Global Hair Research Centre
Site is based in Paris Saint-Ouen
L’Oréal today announced the inauguration of its new Global Hair Research Facility, located in Paris Saint-Ouen. The centre’s R&D programme is exclusively dedicated to the hair care profession which includes hair colouring, hair care, styling, perms, smoothing and straightening.
As one of the largest investments in L’Oréal’s history, the centre houses over 500 employees and is over 25,000 metres squared in size. Employees include chemists, opticians, computer scientists and statisticians.
The site’s architecture and amenities have been designed to foster collaborative spaces conducive to the sharing and the transfer of skills and is billed as the head of a global network of six regional centres of innovation for L’Oréal.
These other centres are located in Japan, China, India, the US and Brazil and they are said to have a dual mission – interpreting the innovation strategies identified by the specialists at the Paris Saint-Ouen Research Centre, and then tailoring them to the specific needs of their individual markets as well as inventing new products that meet local consumer requirements.
