German retailer Karstadt has been hit by a wave of union strikes. Karstadt staff, represented by the Verdi union, want their employer to agree to a wage tariff, plus longer term contact terms. The scrap about a collective wage agreement is ongoing: Karstadt’s 20,000 employees have been fighting about salary terms for 12 months.
