Intertek expert to discuss in vitro testing strategies at Making Cosmetics 2014
Intertek cosmetics safety testing and regulatory experts will present at the \'Making Cosmetics\' Exhibition and Conference from 25-26 March 2014
Intertek, the leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has today announced that its cosmetics safety testing and regulatory experts will present at the 'Making Cosmetics' Exhibition and Conference from 25-26 March 2014 at the Ricoh Arena in Birmingham, UK.
Ashleigh Wake, Intertek's Biotechnology Program Manager - Intertek Healthcare and Beauty Products Group, will deliver a presentation on 'Developing a strategy for in vitro sensitization alternatives to animal testing' during the seminar session on 26 March at 09:55. "The implementation of effective in vitro methods for assisting the development of novel cosmetics products is important. The challenge lies in strategically applying methods such as direct peptide reactivity assays to ensure robust and reliable data which can allow risk assessments to be made.” stated Ashleigh Wake.
Robert Fellous, Intertek's Business Manager for Healthcare & Beauty Products said: “Following the ban on the sale of cosmetics developed through testing on animals in the EU in March 2013, healthcare and beauty product companies have a need for alternative methodologies to ensure their products are safe and effective. Intertek's experts are committed to continuously and actively develop and introduce alternative methods to support these clients.”
The 'Making Cosmetics' event provides an opportunity for stakeholders in the cosmetics supply chain to share information and discuss compliance developments with leading experts, manufacturers and suppliers in sourcing, manufacturing and outsourcing services.
Intertek experts in Regulatory, Analytical and Clinical Research Services will be present at the Intertek stand (Booth 123) to meet with clients throughout the event to discuss current industry issues and technical solutions. Intertek continues to expand its services for cosmetics and consumer healthcare in Europe and globally. It provides a range of support services for the global market including regulatory consultancy, cosmetic safety assessment, analytical testing of ingredients and products, contaminant testing, in vitro skin testing, microbiology, marketplace due diligence, human clinical studies, stability studies and more.
