India teenagers up cosmetic spend

Consumption rises 50% in ten years


Male teenagers in India are reportedly spending more than Rs4000 (€62.50) per month on cosmetics following increased publicity, according to a survey by the Assocham chamber of commerce. The survey indicates that the rise in spending compares with average spending of less than a quarter of this amount per month in the year 2000. Around 65% of teenagers interviewed said their cosmetics consumption had risen by some 50% in the last ten years.
