Upping gym visits ahead of a holiday will help customers do more than just tone up, as exercise is also great for keeping skin healthy. Skin care expert Teresa Tarmey says exercise in any form will cleanse the skin from the inside out.
Tarmey adds it is essential to keep skin hydrated. She recommends drinking two litres of water every day in the weeks before a break. She also advises adding body brushing to a daily routine to get rid of dead skin cells and boost circulation.
Most people are guilty of overindulging while on holiday, which is why it is so important to stay hydrated. Explain to customers that they should make the most of the extra time they have on holiday to take care of their skin. “Moisturise all over at least twice a day,” she adds. “Pay attention to the details – moisturise the lips and cuticles and don’t forget feet.”
Tarmey says customers need to be extra-careful to moisturise on travel days. “Air cabins are like a desert for the skin and can lead to dry patches and breakouts. As the dry cabin air makes moisture drop, those with dry complexions will get drier and those with oily skin will produce even more oil to compensate.” All customers regardless of skin type should be advised to apply a moisturising mask the night before travelling.
