The Legacy Collection comprises four aged Scotch whiskies – 33, 39, 43 and 46 years – which have been hand-picked from the House of Hazelwood’s collection to showcase unique flavour profiles, ghost distilleries and seminal moments in the history of Scotch whisky production. Key requirements for the packaging were to convey the premium quality of the whiskies and maximise on-shelf impact and appeal, in particular to showcase the distinctive bottle.
The exclusive sloped design enables the bottle to stand proud when on display. This shape not only sets the box apart from other whiskies but also complements the wooden packaging used for the older whiskies in the House of Hazelwood range.
Specialist paper was selected to create a stone-like finish for the pack with fluted foil that is colour-matched to the metal features on the bottle to further enhance the whiskies’ premium image.
The box lid slots over the base to provide full protection for the bottle during transit. Hand crafting at Pusterla Pollards’ UK site in Enderby, Leicestershire ensures the required high level of precision to deliver an exact fit and a high-quality finish.
Equally important, the box has also been designed to offer sustainability benefits. It is produced in 100 percent recycled board, while the paper incorporates 40 percent post-consumer waste and 15 percent fibres recovered from the cotton textile manufacturing process.
Pusterla Pollards’ UK location enabled it to respond quickly to the tight deadlines for the project, as well as minimising the environmental impact of transportation.
The company’s fast-response and flexibility also allowed a last-minute change to the printing of the paper to be carried out in order to achieve the desired colour more accurately.
“Pusterla Pollards’ strong reputation within the drinks industry for outstanding quality made them the obvious choice for this exciting launch. The team provided an exceptional level of service throughout – delivering a beautifully hand-crafted presentation box within challenging timescales,” commented Jonathan Gibson, Marketing Director, House of Hazelwood.
“We have been delighted at the quality of their work and their attention to detail in creating a special pack for these special whiskies.”
