Habia to be sole provider for hair and beauty services
Announcement caps off a successful year for the organisation
Industry body Habia has been appointed as the sole supplier of key training and business development services to the hair and beauty sector.
It will be the preferred provider for ‘universal services’ which includes National Occupational Standards (NOS), apprenticeships and modern apprenticeship frameworks across the UK, and qualification activities. The deal will cover a minimum of three years from 1 April 2012.
The past 12 months for Habia have seen it embark on a number of new initiatives and strategic partnerships.
In March last year it signed a seven year deal with one of the world’s largest education publishers, Cengage Learning EMEA, to provide the hair and beauty sector with learning materials.
Alan Goldsbro, Habia ceo, commented: “This is great news for the hair and beauty sector as it shows that the development of qualifications and standards for our industries is of national importance. It is of particularly good news for hair and beauty employers who need staff and new recruits with constantly updated skills to make an impact on the bottom line in these difficult times.”
In other news, Habia is to develop a skills academy for the hair and beauty sector, with the support of awarding organisation VTCT. The Habiba Skills Academy (HSA) has been made possible by a contribution from VTCT for a substantial donation over three years.
It will see a creation of a network of centres of excellence across the UK, with the HSA acting as a virtual hub for guidance and information while providing targeted specialist training for educators.
