Mintel has pointed to the emergence of a “new beauty universe” impacted by GLP-1 use in its new beauty and personal care predictions for 2027.

The consumer insights firm has predicted that the next wave of growth in beauty will come from systems built around aspirations beyond just the face, according to its new Global Predictions 2027 report.

This includes the goals of: ‘Look Well for Longer’, ‘Feel Well’, ‘Stay Protected’, and ‘Feel Confident’.

All of this points to a shift in how brands had previously sat at the centre and the consumer orbited it, but Mintel claimed the “pull has reversed” and that the “consumer is the sun”.

“Around them turn products, services and data, held close or released by a single force: results,” a Mintel statement read.

“Under that pull, the boundaries between categories erode.

“The behaviour that shaped the past decade of growth will not shape the next. Behaviour driven by goals, and the systems consumers build to pursue them.”

Cosmetics Business rounds up why Mintel believes that systems, and the increased use of weight loss drug GLP-1, will define the future of beauty.
