Body Laboratory projects take multi sensory approach to design
Among the exhibitors was womenswear designer Fay Gascoigne whose project, Givaudan Multi Sensory Design/Lavande, was inspired by the scent and history of lavender. “I looked into the First and Second World Wars and the soldiers would actually send lavender in love letters back home,” Gascoigne told cosmeticsbusiness.com. “I wanted to use a fragrance that is comforting and was like memories of home and it developed from this into representing the lavender pod itself – both the smell and the actual form.
“I wanted to integrate fragrance and fashion. So I’ve done that with the accessories. The necklace is made of a material called polymorph; it’s a type of plastic you can mould and I’ve integrated the lavender fragrance into the plastic.”
Other C&T companies sponsoring the event included The Body Shop and Toni&Guy.
